It seems that Olivier Giroud’s season isn’t getting any better even when on international duty with France after he was booed off the pitch by his own fans after France’s 3-1 victory of Belarus. Even though the French won the match, Giroud gave a very forgettable performance upfront and was substituted after an hour to the chorus of boos from the fans in the Stade de France.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Giroud try to play down the incident and ask for more time to prove himself, just like he did with the Arsenal fans.
“When you are a forward you need time and try to not listen to the fans, above all at Stade de France, where the audience is always a little special.”
Giroud is the only big member of Arsenal’s big summer signing club yet to score a goal this season and questions has been asked by the fans if he will be another bust out of France. After the debacle that is Maraoune Chamakh, it is difficult for the fans not to be skeptical about Giroud after seeing him squander two gilt edge chances in the previous league matches. His performance last night for France will certainly not give much confidence to the fans as Arsenal approach a critical juncture in their season, with league games against Manchester City and Chelsea coming up as well as the Champions League match against Giroud’s old club Montpellier.
Although I have personally asked the question if Giroud will be a success at Arsenal, I chose to believe in Arsene Wenger’s vision and will give Giroud more time to prove himself before turning against him. I suggest all Arsenal fans do the same.

If you look at the French team they haven’t bathed themselves in glory recently and our French cousins are a tad fickle to say the least. So I say to Giroud ignore them, Arsenal football club is what matters now and if you work hard and do all that Wenger asks you will be a huge success, and Arsenal football fans will sing your praise for years to come.

Giroud may not have scored for Arsenal, his movement off the ball has been excellent. Many of the chances created were due to his running. I believe he will score many goals this season, remember even Henry took some eight matches to score his first goal !!
