Giroud cannot continue like this

Before any of you Olivier Giroud fans dismiss this article as yet another bashing, please be assured this is nothing of that sort. I just feel that a lot of people are like me, getting very frustrated with the player. Our patience while aplenty is not limitless and the amount of leeway that the fans are giving the guy will have to come to a stop somewhere.

Seriously, I think he is doing a good job for the Gunners whenever he can. He is defending at corners and making plays in attack. However, the only problem is he is currently not doing what he was brought to the Emirates to do, score goals.

From what I see in the games that he has played for us so far, Giroud is an excellent central forward. The runs that he makes are spot and he often gets into dangerous situations. That is why it is so frustrating for the fans. In the games that have been played so far, Giroud has had the opportunity to give Arsenal the win in two of them while saving a loss for the team in another. If only he could keep his composure after doing all the hard work, the Gunners would be top of the table now. As I said in my previous article, forget the mistakes made in defense over the last two Premiership games, if we had taken our chances, we would have won both matches.

Actually, Giroud’s situation is not akin to that of Gervinho last year. The Ivorian also got into some good positions and his lack of finishing was very pronounced last season. This year, Gervinho has found his touch and has been banging the goals in (although his profligacy is still around) for the team. However, Gervinho was widely used as a winger last year and and we had RVP to rescue us from similar situations. Unfortunately, Giroud came in with a big reputation as a proven goalscorer but it has not panned out so far. I am afraid he might not get too many opportunities in the first team if he doesn’t turn the corner soon especially with other players clamoring for that position (such as Walcott). That would be a shame for a player of his quality.

Seriously? Even TH14 took 9 games to break his duck. On the othyer hand, Chamakh scored 11 goals in his first 22 games, then was benched in favor of Van Persie, and now no one thinks he can play. (certainly not from the bench)

Can a little logic be maintained? And perspective?

I am sure that its only a matter of time before he starts scoring! We just need to be patient and supportive, and not let his confidence tank.

I’d have no problem if Giraurd is dropped to the bench. However, I don’t think he’s gotten very good service from Cazorla and the midfield. Normally i’d say this is because a player is not working hard enough and not making the right runs, but its pretty obvious that is not the case with OG.

The few chances he’s had have been mostly half chances. The players are just not looking for him. He’s not getting through balls, he’s not getting the ball when he’s open. I don’t know if there is a personality clash between OG and the rest of the squad, or its simply a matter of everyone needing more time to adapt to eachother, but we can’t really say he’s been given much of a chance to deliver.

Whatever the reason, if things don’t change in the next 3 or 4 games, I think weve got to move on and try something else… whether he’s been given a fair chance or not – this league is unforgiving. Ever point and every goal counts.

Thierry Henry – 9 games before scoring

Bergkamp – 7 games before scoring

    Enough said.

Giroud is a good player. It is just that he is not that clinical. In France he scored alot of goals but he needed many chances. And he was given many chances. Hazard and gervinho scored many goals in france. In the premier league you may only get 2 or 3 good chances a game as a striker. He will adapt and become more clinical. I have faith.

He is not a starter in the last games. We can not ask him to score from the bench. He has one or mostly 2 chances per game. No striker has a conversion rate of 1:1. It what are you many other fans righting and thinking which hurt the most by killing confidence

I still like him a lot. He does the right things for the team, and whenever he has started we have tended to look better with more of a cutting edge. He has set goals up, and I think his partnership with Poldi looks good. He has not started for a couple of games now, so people cant expect him to come on and score with only 15 mins on the pitch. I would much rather see him up front than Gervinho. (he did score against Coventry too!)

The press are on a rubbish Giroud campaign but you shouldn’t be swayed by that. That was no sitter that he missed on Saturday, despite what the media made out. He went around Czech and was going away from goal at a tight angle, so it was a difficult chance; had he got his shot on target, it probably would not have gone in, as there were Chelsea players on the line. Cazorla missed easier chances but nobody is in the mood to criticise him.

giroud should learn how to position himself well to adapt to arsenal football and also there is no competition for him with the purchase of llorente or any other Good player he will improve

That guy is a flop! People say give him time and we’re losing points. I see no reason why Walcott should not be allowed to be the striker. Wenger is only interested in his French connection. We run French national team no wonder we don’t have trophies for years now. Give him time when he’s ripe, he joins man u or man city

At least someone sees the positives of oliver Girour.. Being fair enough, he hasn’t been given enough chance to prove himself. Coming on as a substitute won’t help a player trying to adapt with the pattern of play of a new league, even I’m categorically criticizing Wenger for the downfall of Chamachk, he initially came in nd started banging goals, but the fact that he sees a better player in V.Persie, he was dumped to the bench making him lose his confidence. Pls Wenger should give O.G chances, i believe he’ll soon be a much talked about, prolific goal scorer. Thanks

Betcha said the same thing of a certain centre forward back in 1999 when he failed to score anything in his first 8 games. ‘Course, he then went on to bang in 228 goals in all competitions………….

Goes to show what a little patience can bring you.
