Arsenal Transfer News: Three days to go and still no signings

We are fast approaching the end of the window transfer window and there is still no word on any new potentials signings coming in to the Arsenal squad. Before the window opened, Arsene Wenger gave assurance to the fans that he will be active in this transfer window and will be looking to bring in at least two players. Unfortunately, we have had a couple of players leave us on loan deals but players coming in…nada….

In the past week or so, the manager has changed his tune and spoke of the possibility of not signing anyone this January. I didn’t want to believe him at that time but it seems that this January will be exactly like the January of years past, where the manager promised new signings only to retreat on his word in the end.

Of course the Professor has years and years of experience running the club and he probably knows best for the team and the players but it just seems to me that we are just doing the same thing and expecting different results. That, according to Einstein, is the definition of insanity. So if we are not going to be replenishing the talent pool then the best we can hope for is another third or fourth place finish in the league with no trophies to boot. I guess this is where the management and manager needs to come clean with the fans. If their objective is to just qualify for the Champions League, then just come out say it is so. With the management philosophy that we have, we cannot hope for anything better because that would be insane.

That just leaves the fans to make a decision on whether this is still the club that you want to support. If yes, then we need to adjust our expectations at the beginning of the year and be happy with a Champions League spot at the end of May.
